Common rooms

The Large Living Room (Salon Marcelin Wilson)

The completely renovated Salon Marcelin Wilson can be used throughout the year to host cultural events such as concerts, conferences, and colloquiums. It can also serve as a classroom when necessary.

The concert piano in the Salon Marcelin Wilson is used only for recitals. Exceptionally, on the eve of a concert, the director may authorize rehearsals; these will take place during dinner hours in order not to disturb the work of the residents.

The Student’s Living Room(Salon Panet-Raymond)
Located on the ground floor near the administrative offices, this room is a place where students get together to talk, watch television, or, occasionally, even organize a small party or film viewing.

The Reading/Computer Room (Salle Ostiguy)
The Ostiguy living Room is equipped with computers and a small library and is generally used as a reading room and study area. Considering this usage, eating and drinking are not permitted.

Music Rooms.
Residents who have been admitted to the House as musicians have access to two practice rooms located in the basement level of the west wing.
Reservations are made on sign-up sheets posted on the doors of each room.

The piano room (black piano) is reserved for pianists while the second music room is open to all other musicians.
Practicing in the private rooms is formally prohibited.
Music Room Hours:
- Monday through Saturday: 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
- Sunday: from Noon to 10:00 PM.

Terrace.
A terrace with picnic tables and a grill is available to the residents.
The residents are asked to clean the tables and the grill after use.
For those wishing to use the grill, charcoal is available at the Franprix.
The red folding chairs must remain inside the Wilson Room. Out of respect for the residents whose rooms open onto the terrace, the area is closed from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. The terrace stays open until 11:00 PM exceptionally from July to September.

Kitchens.
Four kitchens are at the disposal of the residents. They are equipped with tables, chairs, heating elements, an oven, a microwave, as well as a sink.

It is everyone’s responsibility to keep the kitchen clean.
The kitchen furniture is intended for use in the kitchen only.

Out of respect for fellow residents, we ask that this furniture be kept in the kitchen and also that all noise and/or conversation in the kitchens stop after 10:00 PM.
The MEC does not provide kitchen utensils except for those in the apartments and studios.

Reception
Receptionists are there to welcome you to the House, to check you in and out, and to provide information.
The main receptionist, working weekdays, is Ilham.
It is to Ilham and the other receptionists that you must declare guests and ask for extra beds, items to borrow, or bikes to rent.
Only Ilham and the administration can credit your telephone account.
The Reception is open from 8:00AM to 12:00PM; from 1:00PM to 07:00PM; and from 08:00PM to midnight. From midnight to 08:00AM, a security guard patrols the House.

Maintenance and Housekeeping.
A maintenance company takes care of the cleaning of the House and there is a handyman to take care of minor repairs such as leaky faucets, blocked sinks, defective taps, burnt out light bulbs, etc.
Any such repair to be made should be reported at the Reception. Repairs are normally made within 48 hours of the report.
